IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT TO SPONSORS IN WINNIPEG

Hospitality House Refugee Ministry is informing potential sponsors in Winnipeg that we will be accepting Expressions of Interest (EOI) to sponsor refugees for the year 2023. Hospitality House will be using a lottery system to randomly select co-sponsors who will be given an opportunity to submit sponsorship applications for the refugees they identify. To ensure fairness among participants, and to advance the lottery integrity, there will be some caps on EOI as follows:

• Priority will be given to new co-sponsor applicants who meet the program eligibility requirements. EOI  from co-sponsor applicants who have participated in the lottery in the past years and have successfully submitted an application through our office will not be prioritized.
• Each EOI has to contain information of two eligible co-sponsors. If only one co-sponsor applicant repeats his/her name and information in the place of the second co-sponsor, that EOI will not be considered.
• The maximum number of EOI to be completed and submitted by both co-sponsors is TWO. Attempts exceeding the maximum allowed number will be disregarded and not included in the random selection. Therefore, co-sponsors have to carefully prioritize the refugee(s) they are planning to sponsor. Hospitality House will not be offering additional spots if a co-sponsor applicant fills multiple EOIs.
• Only one Interest to Sponsor Form per refugee family will be allowed. Multiple entries and duplications for the same family will be removed.
• Sponsorship spaces won cannot be transferred to another person. Also there will not be a carryover for spots won in 2023 to following years.
• Co-sponsor applicants from other provinces, than Manitoba, in Canada will not be considered.

How to participate in the lottery:

The EOI is the first step of participating in the lottery system. The EOI is only a mechanism to inform Hospitality House that you are interested in sponsoring refugee(s) and that both co-sponsors and refugees to be sponsored meet the eligibility criteria for the Private Sponsorship of Refugees (PSR) program. EOIs that do not meet the requirements of the program will not be considered. Completing the EOI form does not guarantee a sponsorship spot and is not an application for sponsorship. Only co-sponsors selected in the lottery will be contacted, trained and authorized to submit applications.

Where can I apply?

The EOI form is available only at Hospitality House website (www.hhrmwpg.org). There are no hard copies of the EOI form in our office or elsewhere. The form cannot be accessed before and after the times and dates shown below.

When can I access the EOI form? The EOI form will be made available for a limited time, from Monday, May 08, 2023 9:00 am Central Time to Sunday, May 19, 2023 12:00 pm Central Time. After this, the form will be taken offline and applicants will not be able to submit an EOI.
